Musings
by Laura Jorgensen
Are the little bird skeletons still
buried under the lilac bush?
Does the flat pebble regret being skipped
into the deep blue lake?
Does the wind know where it stops?
Does the ground think?
Is it really the early bird that gets the worm?
Is karma something real, and
when can we see it happen to people we wish misfortune upon?
And why does life seem so delicately balanced
in evening light?
And why does Russia have such a hold on longing and sadness?
And why does Russia touch Alaska, Mongolia and Finland?
Is there any prisoner who has good shoes?
Do you feel it is wrong to date a married man?
Do you see how you've made up your version of my suicide?
Do you ever lie down in honesty?
